Item Upgrading Isn't As Difficult As You Think

World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of an armored weapon or. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will drop during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also give an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.

In the final game you'll find that the best way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values can enhance a stat by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes however, you may also want to be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The  item upgrade  system allows players to boost the power of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires a different number of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set of bonuses. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with an initial level and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be repeated often, as it can waste many resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player is repeatedly in or exits water. This item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be very valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it is given a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to go to its initial state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like the chance to crit attack damage, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or reloading speed). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Players will still have to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade will require an individual amount of ingredients for upgrading.
